The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber has hired Eric Planey, a Youngstown native, to fill the newly created position of vice president, international/national business attraction. His responsibilities include spurring international and national economic development opportunities for the Mahoning Valley.

The position is being funded through a Congressional earmark garnered earlier this year by U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th. Planey had been a vice president of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. He received a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird Global School of International Management and a bachelor’s degree in business administration/finance from Bowling Green State University.

MANUFACTURING

Corey Brown of Warren has been hired as plant manager at Specialty Strip & Oscillating in Masury. He will be responsible for daily operations of the plant.

BANKING

Jude Nohra of Canfield has been promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Home Savings and Loan Co. and general counsel and secretary of United Community Financial Corp. Nohra’s primary responsibilities include advising the boards of directors and executive management at UCFC and Home Savings on legal and corporate business issues.

Since joining Home Savings in 2004, Nohra had served as vice president, general counsel and secretary of Home Savings and secretary of UCFC. Nohra graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University.

INSURANCE

Attorney Joseph Cregan, formerly of Youngstown, has been named vice president and general counsel of MAG Mutual Insurance Co. in Atlanta. He is a graduate of Youngstown State University, Kent State University and Georgia State University School of Law.
