Class B clubs both win 2 games


STRUTHERS — Rondinelli Tuxedo scored 10 runs in the first inning then had to score a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to remain undefeated as they defeated the Thunder Select, 12-11, as the CABA World Series continued Tuesday at Cene Park.

Phil Lipari had three hits, while Brad Byers, Jason Bagoly, and Adam Shrodak added two each for Rondinelli.

Shrodak got the win in relief tossing a scoreless inning.

Patrick Kilway had four hits while Phil Emling and Andrew Powelson had three hits each for Thunder, with Powelson hitting a two-run homer.

Rondinelli Tuxedo 12, Chillicothe 3

Rondinelli used an eight-run seventh inning to put away Chillicothe.

Drew Fitzpatrick had three hits, including a triple and a double, while Jake Double had a pair of doubles and a single with three RBIs.

Joe Sekula, Phil Lipari, and Ed Reese added two hits each and Danny Ward tossed a three hitter with four strikeouts for the win.

Jordy Wonderleigh had two hits for Chillicothe.

Astro Falcons 6, North York Canada 3

Ryan Morris tossed a complete game five-hitter and the Astro Falcons won their second game in the tournament.

Morris had seven strikeouts and walked just one. Anthony Raschilla had three hits while Joe Aulizia added two for Astro.

Justin Newbold had two hits for North York.

Astro Falcons 8, North Coast 4

Mike Natale was a single shy of the cycle as Astro bounced back from an opening-day loss.

Natale had a two-run homer and also drove home a run with a triple and added a double.

Trent Vallinger was just a triple shy of a cycle as he had an inside-the-park home run, a double and a single.

Kyle Allen added a pair of hits while Ron Sullivan allowed just one run after the first inning in going the distance for the win, striking out five.

Kevin Verne had three hits, while Staephen Hawley and Brandon Ellis had two hits each for North Coast.

Rondinelli is one of four teams with 3-0 records after two days of pool play. Seven teams, including Astro Falcons, are 2-1.

Tournament play continues today with games on all three fields at Cene Park. Both Rondinelli and Astro have two games scheduled.
