A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
July 26
Arrest: A vehicle registration check near North State and Kline streets led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Lowellville man wanted by Akron authorities on a burglary count. He also was charged with being a fugitive from justice.
Menacing: Officers received a report about a man who had threatened to have his girlfriend harm another woman in the 100 block of North Lorain Avenue.
Attempted truck theft: Someone entered a truck in the 10 block of West Wilson Avenue, apparently in an effort to steal the vehicle.
Arrests: Police responded to a possible break-in and found three male juveniles on the roof of Girard High School, 31 N. Ward Ave. The fire department was called to provide a ladder, and the three faced disorderly-conduct charges.
Criminal damaging: A Washington Avenue man reported seeing another man and a woman damaging his vehicle’s tires. Police found his driver’s-side tires had been slashed, a report said.
July 27
Theft/criminal mischief: Someone cut and damaged garden hoses at a residence in the 100 block of Townsend Avenue, then stole two other hoses.
Theft: A woman discovered a $150 grill missing from her backyard in the 900 block of Woodlawn Avenue.
HUBBARD
July 23
Possible identity theft: A Hubbard man said he believes he was a victim of the crime.
Possible theft: An Orchard Avenue man reported his wallet lost or stolen.
Theft: A female, no information given, was arrested after a few T-shirts were stolen from Dollar General, 886 W. Liberty St.
July 24
Theft: Two flags were removed from a yard in the 600 block of Meadowland Drive.
Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a home in the 40 block of Mackey Street.
July 25
Assault: A Niles man reported being punched while at a North Main Street restaurant.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 100 block of Christian Avenue.
Arrest: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant against a township man accused of failure to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.
July 27
Theft: A car in the 100 block of Belle Vista Drive had its stereo taken.
LIBERTY
July 23
Assault: A McDonald woman alleged her boyfriend struck her in the face during an argument at his Chrysann Drive residence. She had discoloration and swelling in the affected area.
July 24
Theft: A Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman discovered a $246, 20-inch TV missing as she moved into her residence.
Theft: Stereo equipment, including two speakers, were stolen from a car at an impound yard off Belmont Avenue.
Drugs: A Youngstown boy, 16, was charged with drug abuse as police investigated a suspicious vehicle on Northview Boulevard. A bag of suspected marijuana was found, they said.
Burglary: To a residence in the 1700 block of Pleasant Valley Road at which money and other property was stolen.
Theft: Fifty-six Xanax pills were missing from a Northview Boulevard apartment.
Theft: A worker for Blue Ribbon Rental Inc., 3670 Belmont Ave., told authorities a 40-year-old city woman rented then pawned a $1,500 laptop computer.
Weapon: A customer found a handgun in a restroom at a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant. The firearm had 10 rounds in its magazine and was confiscated by police for safekeeping, a report showed.
Drugs: Austintown police handed a Youngstown man, 21, to township authorities. He was wanted on a drug offense.
Arrest: Officers took custody of a 21-year-old Girard man in the 1100 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road who was wanted on a charge of receiving stolen property.
Criminal mischief: An Arbor Circle man noticed a bag of marshmallows, stones and several pieces of concrete someone had tossed into his swimming pool.
July 25
Criminal damaging: Someone caused $75 worth of damage to a garage door in the 6500 block of Shaulis Street.
Menacing: A Youngstown man reported another man staying at a Belmont Avenue motel threatened him regarding money owed to the accuser.
Drugs: A city man, 19, was arrested during a traffic stop on state Route 193 when, police said, a bag containing 1 gram of suspected marijuana was found.
Aggravated menacing: A Liberty woman told authorities a 17-year-old Youngstown boy, angry about a gold chain he had bought from her son, threatened to come to her home and shoot the accuser unless she gave him $100.
Theft: Someone took a $200 dirt bike from a garage in the 2500 block of Fifth Avenue.
July 26
Criminal damaging: Someone spray-painted graffiti on the side and rear of a Cardinal Drive church.
July 28
Breaking and entering: Township police chased a man fleeing in a vehicle who was thought to have broken into Rent-A-Center, 2718 Belmont Ave., by smashing a window with a rock. Stolen were two laptop computers.
