Rondinelli Tuxedo bests San Diego in CABA win


STRUTHERS — Phil Lipari’s double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning drove home Brad Byers with the go-ahead run as Rondinelli Tuxedo defeated San Diego 7-6 at the CABA 18-under World Series at Cene Park on Monday.

Lipari finished with three RBIs while Drew Fitzpatrick had three hits. Jason Bagoly added a single and a double and Jaymee Shepard hit a two-run triple for Rondinelli.

Billy Pool went five plus innings before Zach McGhee came on and tossed two hitless innings for the win, striking out three.

Brian Palmer hit a three-run homer and added a single for San Diego, while John-Michael Pataesill had a single and a two-run triple, and Shane Farias a solo home run.

Albion 5, Astro Falcons 4

Astro Falcons rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh but fell short.

Ryan Patrick allowed just one run over the last six innings. He had 12 strikeouts. Anthony Raschilla and Ryan Rovnak had two hits each for Astro.

Joe Lauria and Bryan Colis had a single and a double each for Albion.

Colt Region

BOARDMAN — 1080 Media swept Action Physical Therapy, 7-1 and 6-2, to win the Colt (15-16) Region tournament.

In the second game, Jansen Sneltzer allowed just two runs (one earned) in the complete game victory while Mike Watson hit a bases-loaded triple in the first inning and finished with four RBIs. Tim Cheslik had two hits and two RBIs. Todd Gasior had two hits for Action.

In the first game, Watson allowed one unearned run with nine strikeouts for 1080. Watson also had a single, double, and a triple while Cheslik had two hits and three RBIs. Rick Yauger and Kory Hopkinson had two hits each for Action.

Youngstown Class AA

YOUNGSTOWN — John Hay tossed a four-hit shutout as Roth Brothers defeated Youngstown Metros, 2-0, to win the league championship series in a sweep.

Tom Clayton’s two-run homer sparked Roth to a three-game sweep at Pemberton Park. Roth won 7-1 and 4-3 on Sunday .

Clayton and Rick Gozur doubled in Roth’s six-run sixth inning in the 7-1 win. Also with hits that frame were George Rohan, Rob Tamburro and Mike Sikorski.

Josh Conkey scattered eight hits for the pitching win.

In the 4-3 win, Gozur’s bases-loaded single in the sixth inning brought home two runs. Dave Yost was the winning pitcher.
