Pittsburgh slots parlor prepares for grand opening

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Workers are putting the finishing touches on Pittsburgh’s new slots casino.

Rivers Casino officials proudly showed off the casino’s 3,000 slot machines, five restaurants and four bars during a media tour today. The casino also boasts broad views of the Ohio River, Mount Washington and Point State Park.

Invitation-only events will be on Aug. 5 and 7 with the proceeds going to charity so the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board can make sure the casino is ready for its formal opening Aug. 9.

Casino president Ed Fasulo says the casino could expand to 5,000 machines in the future.

The casino will employ 1,021 full-time and about 60 part-time workers.
