No word on print re-test in Ohio twin slaying

COLUMBUS (AP) — A judge isn’t having a hearing over whether the palm print crucial in charging an Ohio man in the killing of his identical twin should be retested.

Judge Guy Reece of Franklin County Common Pleas Court instead met privately today with attorneys for the prosecution and defense of defendant Derris Lewis.

Lawyers would not comment afterward.

Prosecutors have said that fingerprints and the bloody palm print linked Derris Lewis to the 2008 crime at his mother’s house. Lewis’ attorney Adam Nemann said earlier that he wants a re-test to determine if the substance on the palm print is something other than blood.

Defense witnesses testified that Lewis was in another house miles away at the time of the crime.

Lewis has pleaded not guilty. He is scheduled for re-trial next month.
