BOOK SALES

• Friends of the Rodman Public Library is having a used-book sale from Aug. 10-12. The library has been collecting used items for its annual sale since last August. The sale will be from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 9 for members of the Friends; memberships may be purchased at the door. The sale that is open to the public continues from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11. On Aug. 12, the sale begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m., with the last four hours a sale frenzy, during which all the books that fit into a grocery bag will be $1.

DANCES

• Mad Hot Monday at Kuzman’s, 1025 S. State St., Girard, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 3. This will be a fun mix of ballroom, Latin, swing and hustle. Kuzman’s is sponsoring this free dance to help the Valley beat the recession, stay in shape and have fun. FUNDRAISERS

• Animal Welfare League has scheduled a charity motorcycle run for Aug. 30 at Yankee Lake Ballroom, 1814 state Route 7 N.E., Brookfield. The registration fee is $15 per rider, $10 per passenger. Continental breakfast and dinner will be provided, and there will be door prizes, a 50-50 raffle and Chinese auction. The ride will be a scenic route through the Pennsylvania countryside. • Mill Creek Chapter of ABWA is sponsoring the Relay for Life Team’s garage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Austintown Community Church pavilion, 242 S. Niles-Canfield Road, next to Panera Bread. Proceeds from the sale will fund the Relay Team’s Account for the American Cancer Society for next year’s activities. Refreshments will be available. • Berlin Center Historical Society will sponsor a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8. Listings of the 20-plus sale sites can be found at local merchants Rasul’s Market, Dari Isle Dairy Bar, Schrader’s Grocery and Denny’s Auto Parts.

• Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a communitywide garage, yard and merchants’ sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. • Lakeview High School’s German Club will sponsor a sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Ridge View Plaza, by Pat Catan’s. The club is raising funds for a trip to Germany. • Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna, will sponsor a rummage sale. Admission to the preview sale from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday is $3. There is no admission charged for the sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday or for the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. sale Saturday, with a bag sale that day from 1 to 3. Food and a bake sale will be available.

• Trumbull Art Gallery, 196-198 E. Market St., Warren, is planning Treasures for TAG, a sale of collectible items donated by members and patrons of the gallery. The sale will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday. Items for sale will include artwork, jewelry, pottery, books, vintage items and more. • VFW Donald Locket Post 6488 a Auxiliary will sponsor a summer barbecue beginning 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8 at 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road. Rib sandwiches will be $7 and chicken sandwiches will be $6. • Diocesan Infant Jesus of Prague Guild of Mahoning County will sponsor a trip to the Pittsburgh area Aug. 12. The bus will leave Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church at 9 a.m. for the Byzantine Chapel in Beaver County. The next stop is St. Anthony’s Shrine in Pittsburgh. Next on the agenda is lunch at Max’s Allegheny Tavern and a visit to the National Aviary and the Ikea store. The cost is $45 per person, and the last day for reservations is Aug. 10.
