Crew 3, FC Toronto 2

COLUMBUS — Jason Garey scored in second-half stoppage time and the Columbus Crew set an MLS record by extending their home unbeaten streak to 19 matches. Columbus (7-3-9) overcame a 2-1 deficit to improve to 13-0-6 at Crew Stadium since a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on June 7, 2008. The Earthquakes held the previous mark of 18, spanning the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Steven Lenhart tied the game in the 76th minute for Columbus and Eddie Gaven also scored. Ali Gerba and Dwayne De Rosario scored for Toronto FC (7-7-5). Garey took a pass from Crew captain Frankie Hejduk and beat Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei nearly two minutes into stoppage time for his fourth goal of the year. Columbus took the lead in the 32nd minute, when Danny O’Rourke dribbled around two Toronto defenders to find space in the penalty area. O’Rourke fed the ball to Gaven, whose shot deflected off Frei’s foot and into the back of the net for his third goal of the year. Three minutes later, Dwayne De Rosario, Toronto’s leading scorer, made it 1-all with his seventh tally. Toronto FC took the lead early in the second half when Gerba had time to settle the ball near the penalty spot before shooting it past goalkeeper William Hesmer. Crew coach Robert Warzycha made two offensive-minded substitutions after Toronto took the lead, bringing on scoring Emmanuel Ekpo and Adam Moffat. Those changes paid off as forward Steven Lenhart netted his second goal of the year to tie the game at 2. The Crew was awarded the Trillium Cup, given to the winner of the season series between Columbus and Toronto.

Fire 0, Sounders 0

SEATTLE — Jon Busch made five saves, two on consecutive point-blank tries by Nate Jaqua during the first half, to help the Chicago Fire earn a draw. The Fire (7-3-8) extended their unbeaten streak to four matches (2-0-2) following a three-game losing streak from May 31-June 13. Seattle (7-3-8) is unbeaten in six games (3-0-3). Busch got some late help when a shot by Fredy Montero bounced off the right side of the crossbar, and another Sounders shot in traffic in the penalty area was cleared off the line by Chris Rolfe. Kasey Keller made two saves for Seattle to earn his sixth shutout of the season.
