YOUNGSTOWN — Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., has opened the Good Shepherd Community Doctor’s Office, which is home to Genuine Care Corp., owned and operated by Brenetta Geddis and Gilead Health Services.

The free service was established to serve under- and uninsured residents of Youngstown and the surrounding area. It features the Digital Doctor, a computer-based physician service.

Nominations accepted

YOUNGSTOWN — Meridian Services is accepting nominations for the 2009 Valley Impact Awards, which will be presented Oct. 6.

Awards include the Collaboration in Action Award, which honors businesses and organizations that work together to improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by addiction and its related issues; Behind the Faces of Recovery, presented to those who have made a significant impact in the life of someone during their recovery process, physically and/or emotionally; Excellence in Service Award, honoring those who work in the addiction treatment and prevention community; and the Valley Leadership Award, which is selected by Meridian’s Board of Directors.

Nominees can include counselors, social workers, volunteers or community advocates.

Health fair at center

EAST LIVERPOOL — Catholic Charities Regional Agency’s Senior Center, 600 E. Fourth St., is offering a health fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The community is invited to the free health fair, which will have eye, blood pressure and EKG screenings; glucose (blood sugar) screening; hearing testing; and information on nutrition and health insurance.

The Mammovan, sponsored by the Columbiana County Health Department with funding provided by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, will provide mammograms for insured and uninsured women and counseling and clinical breast exams. Mammogram and clinical breast exams require preregistration.

Prostate cancer is topic

CANFIELD — Dr. Eric Svenson, oncologist from Humility of Mary Health Partners, will speak about seed implants at the Aug. 5 meeting of the Mahoning Valley Man to Man group.

Patients and families dealing with prostate cancer are invited to the meeting, which is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St.
