DOCTORS

OSU optometry

Sarah L. Wagner of Boardman has received her doctorate of optometry from Ohio State University.

Dr. Wagner was a member of Gold Key International Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and Epsilon Psi Epsilon Optometric Fraternity and participated in optometry-service trips to Ecuador and Nicaragua through the organization Student Volunteers for Optometric Services to Humanity.

She was a recipient of the Outstanding Ocular Disease Extern Award for clinical excellence during internships at a Veterans Affairs hospital and at Roholt Vision Institute based in North Canton.

She is completing a residency in ocular disease at the Columbus/Chillicothe VA Medical Center in Columbus.

Dr. Wagner is a 2001 graduate of Boardman High School and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from John Carroll University, Cleveland, in 2005.

While at John Carroll, she was president of student government and received the Beaudry Award for leadership, academics, service and Christian life. She is the daughter of Richard and Beverly Wagner in Boardman.

DOCTORATE

MIT engineering

John Quentin Dickmann Jr., son of John and Ann Dickmann of Poland, has received his Ph.D. in engineering systems from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

After graduating from Poland Seminary High School in 1977, he received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1981 and earned his master’s degree in engineering management from Catholic University in 1992.

Dr. Dickmann retired from the Navy in 2002 and recently founded his own consulting company. He lives in Portsmouth, R.I., with his wife, Lisa, and children, Quent and Dorothy.

CWRU nursing

Nancy Hasden Wagner recently received her doctorate in nursing from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland.

Dr. Wagner is an assistant professor of nursing at Youngstown State University and is an adjunct faculty member at Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rootstown. She also is employed per diem as a registered nurse on the pediatric unit at St. Joseph Health Center, Warren.

Previously, she was a pediatric-nurse specialist in the department of pulmonary medicine at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati.

Wagner, a 1973 graduate of Villa Maria High School, received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing and her master’s degree in nursing children at risk from Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis.

She is a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses, Xi Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 143.

Wagner and her husband, Barry, live in Liberty and have two sons, Brad and Kenny. She is the daughter of Bernice Hasden and the late Meyer Hasden.

LAWYERS

CSU doctorate

Jennifer Nicole McPaul has received her juris doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University.

She is a 2001 graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School. In 2005, she received her undergraduate degree with honors from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in legal studies and sports marketing. She was a recipient of the Provost Merit and Founders Merit scholarships.

While at Duquesne, she was active in her sorority, Delta Zeta, serving on the executive board as secretary and also serving as academic chairwoman. She was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership and honor society, and a member of Golden Key National Honor Society.

While at Cleveland-Marshall, McPaul was active as a peer mentor and first-year experience mentor. She is a member of Women In Sports and Entertainment as well as a member of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association and the Ohio Bar Association. She was named to the dean’s list.

While earning her law degree, she was employed by the Cleveland Bar Association, the Cleveland Indians and Stanley E. Stein and Associates.

She is the daughter of Sid and Pauline McPaul of Williamsfield and the granddaughter of Patricia and the late Bernard McPaul of Andover and Paul and Gloria Gustafan of Liberty.
