Donations from children

MINERAL RIDGE — Children from 3 years old through sixth grade who attended Vacation Church School this month at First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, 3654 N. Main St., participated in two “kid-to-kid” mission projects.

They collected new and gently used children’s books and an offering was taken each day.

Donations went to Someplace Safe, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.

The children also made “Comfort Critters,” fleece turtles, to be given to patients at Akron Children’s Hospital of the Valley.

Church anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St., will mark its 59th anniversary with presentations by the Rev. Nate Dubois of Lilly Grove Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. Sunday and at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 2 by the Rev. Mary Austin of Greater Mount Calvary Church.

Concert planned

NEW SPRINGFIELD — The Palmetto State Quartet, a Southern Gospel singing group, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road, (Route 617).

Spirituality program

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will offer a workshop, “Spirituality and Sustainability,” from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 2 at Villa Maria Community Center.

Presenters will be Sister Barbara O’Donnell, who earned a master’s in religious education from LaSalle University and a master’s in earth literacy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, and Frank Romeo, director of land management emeritus at the Villa. Romeo also is director of Lawrence County Conservation District.

Choir anniversary

CAMPBELL — Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 66 10th St., will celebrate the 63rd anniversary of its choir at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Workshop on divorce

WARREN — Divorce Recovery Workshop, for anyone who is divorced or separated, is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 21-Nov. 9, at North-Mar Church, 3855 E. Market St.

People are welcome to attend no matter what their faith or church affiliation.

Sessions will include legal and financial issues, managing money and “Divorce and Re-marriage: What Does the Bible Teach?”

Musical program

AUSTINTOWN — Mary Lou Troutman and Tom Page of Dust and Ashes will participate in a worship service at 9:20 a.m. Aug. 9 and present a concert at 7 p.m. at Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road.

The couple, who have recorded 13 albums, travels the country through their music ministry.

Diocesan guild

YOUNGSTOWN — The Diocesan Infant Jesus of Prague Guild of Mahoning County will sponsor a trip Aug. 12 to visit the Byzantine Chapel in Beaver County and St. Anthony’s Shrine in Pittsburgh. Other stops will be Max’s Allegheny Tavern for lunch, the National Aviary and shopping. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church. Summer musical

AUSTINTOWN — “Finding Happiness,” a DVD produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is available through the public affairs committee of the church.
