Tom Noe, convicted of investment fund theft, gets divorced

COLUMBUS (AP) — A former Republican fundraiser convicted of stealing from an Ohio investment fund is now divorced from his wife.

A Monroe County court in Florida granted a petition for dissolution of the marriage of Bernadette Noe, of Key Largo, Fla., and former Toledo-area coin dealer Tom Noe, 55, on Thursday.

Noe is serving an 18-year Ohio prison term at Hocking Correctional Facility in Nelsonville.

He was convicted in 2006 of charges including aggravated theft and engaging in a pattern in corrupt activity for his handling of a $50 million rare-coin investment fund for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.

He served about two years in a federal prison for illegally funneling $45,000 to President George W. Bush’s 2003 re-election campaign.
