Little League teams get ready for state tourneys

Area teams will compete in the state Little League tournaments starting this weekend and Aug. 1.

In Tallmadge the Canfield 11-12 baseball team, managed by Paul Hammond, will play in the state tournament.

They will open against Defiance Saturday at 5 p.m.

Members of the team are Jon Saadey, Dan Brown, Joe Billec, Vince D’Alesio, Michael Yourstowsky, Kyle Kovach, Alec Hammond, Nick Dastoli, Zach Dundics, Anthony Carelli, Vince Leone and Job Yeaton.

Three other teams will begin play next weekend.

Poland’s 9-10 baseball team will compete in the state tournament in Cambridge, while the 10-11 team from Howland will compete in Chesapeake.

And in Conneaut the 9-10 softball team from Howland will begin state tournament play.
