Lake Milton man gets prison term for stabbing death in 2008

YOUNGSTOWN — A man who pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence in a fatal stabbing last year at Lake Milton is going to prison for five years and must pay a $1,000 fine.

Edward A. Miller Jr., 22, of Roselawn Drive, Lake Milton, drew the sentence today from Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

The prosecution recommended that sentence as part of a plea agreement in which it dropped a murder charge against the defendant. Miller fatally stabbed Eric E. Showalter, 28, of Diamond, once in the chest in Lake Shore Plaza on Feb. 7, 2008.
