Vegas changes its name to Rhythm Nation Band
Vegas, one of the Mahoning Valley’s most popular and enduring dance bands, has changed its name to the Rhythm Nation Band but is still offering the same high-energy show.
“There are a lot of great bands in this area, but hardly any of them are doing the dance thing anymore,” the band said in a statement on its Web page. “We’re rooted in the funk scene, and yeah, we dug the ’80s.”
With a repertoire of more than 200 songs, RNB likes to “read” the crowd and deliver what it wants, be it disco, R&B, ’90s soul, classic rock or modern pop or hip-hop.
The band utilizes lighting and fog in its stage show to recreate the aura of an ’80s dance club, where the emphasis was on fun and dancing.
The quartet, fronted by lead singer Monica, will be at Rosetta Stone, 10 W. Federal St., downtown Youngstown, at 9 p.m. Saturday night. On Aug. 1, RNB will be at the Fireplace in Poland.
