Scrappers snap skid, cruise past Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, Md. — After dropping the first two games of the series against Aberdeen, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers bounced back in a big way Wednesday night, rolling past the Ironbirds 10-0 in front of 6,474 fans at Ripken Stadium in a New York-Penn League game.

Kyle Bellows went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs for the Scrappers (20-13), who took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Catcher Chun Chen added two hits and a run, while Ben Carlson had two hits, a run and an RBI.

Justin Toole also had two hits and stole his first two bases since joining the team as a non-drafted free agent two weeks ago.

Brett Brach (1-1) started and earned his first pro win, tossing five shutout innings with four strikeouts and no walks. He gave up four hits.

Antwonie Hubbard finished it off for his first save, giving up just one hit over four innings with four strikeouts and two walks.

Eight Scrappers scored at least one run. Leadoff hitter Jordan Henry added two RBIs.
