Cronkite special to re-air

Cronkite special to re-air

NEW YORK — Discovery Channel says it’s re-airing “Cronkite Remembers,” an eight-part look at the 20th century through the eyes of veteran newsman Walter Cronkite. The encore presentation honors Cronkite, who died last week at age 92. The series airs Sunday in a double marathon beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern and concluding at 3 a.m. Monday.

Last seen on Discovery in 1997, the series charts Cronkite’s life and times through recollections, interviews, home movies and clips from the CBS News library and other archives. Episodes include “The Cold War,” “Television and Politics” and “Man on the Moon.”

Lollapalooza lineup

CHICAGO — The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were named new Lollapalooza headliners Tuesday to replace the Beastie Boys.

Texas-based promoters C3 Presents moved quickly to secure an Aug. 8 headliner for the three-day Chicago festival after the Beastie Boys unexpectedly dropped out Monday because of rapper Adam Yauch’s impending cancer surgery.

The New York trio will replace the Beastie Boys as the headliner on the fest’s middle day, opposite Tool.

Baldwin is bankrupt

NEW YORK — Court records show actor Stephen Baldwin is millions of dollars in debt and has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

A filing Tuesday in federal court in New York shows that Baldwin owes $1.2 million in two mortgages on a property about 30 miles north of New York City valued at $1.1 million. The document shows he also owes more than $1 million in taxes and has about $70,000 in credit card debt. His wife, Kennya Baldwin, is also named in the filing.

Baldwin has appeared in several films including “The Usual Suspects.” Last month, he left the Costa Rican set of the NBC show “I’m a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!” after he said he got more than 125 insect bites in eight days.

Rock Hall concerts

NEW YORK — Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, U2 and Stevie Wonder are among the music legends who will celebrate 25 years of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — and they plan to sing much more than “Happy Birthday.”

Those inductees, plus Eric Clapton, Metallica and more, will perform at two concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden in October to mark the rock hall’s silver anniversary. A statement from the rock hall says there will be different lineups for the Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 shows.
