Deadline to take buyout at GM Lordstown is Friday

LORDSTOWN — Hourly employees of General Motors’ Lordstown complex have until Friday to turn in the paperwork needed to be part of the buyout program now being offered. The required documents must be hand-delivered to the hourly employment office, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The offers vary, but production workers with at least 30 years can receive $20,000 and a car voucher to retire.

Handel’s will thank customers with $1 cones

CANFIELD — Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt will sell cones for $1 on Saturday. Its stores are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Leonard Fisher, president of the Canfield-based company, said the event is designed to thank customers for the chain’s growth. Handel’s has 34 stores in five states.

FirstEnergy quarterly dividend is unchanged

AKRON — The board of directors of FirstEnergy Corp. declared an unchanged quarterly dividend of 55 cents per share of outstanding common stock. The dividend will be payable Sept. 1 to shareholders of record as of Aug. 7.
