3 teen suspects sought in 2 armed robberies

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are looking for three teens suspected of two armed robberies within 45 minutes of each another.

According to police, officers were sent to Cornersburg Pizza, 3518 Canfield Road, where an employee said he had been robbed at gunpoint around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police received a second call for an armed robbery at 10:14 p.m. According to police, a 45-year-old New York man said he was leaving the Avalon Gardens Restaurant on Belmont when three individuals, all appearing to be teens, demanded his money. Two had guns. He handed over a wallet.

2 businesses robbed by gunmen in Warren

WARREN — Two armed robberies were reported at businesses in the city over the weekend, with one occurring Sunday evening at the CVS drug store on East Market Street and the other occurring Saturday night at the GetGo gas station on Mahoning Avenue.

One man walked into the CVS around 8:36 p.m., covered most of his face with a black hoodie containing gold lettering on the front and demanded that an employee in the pharmacy give him all of the drug Percocet, police said. He showed the employee a handgun in the pouch of his jacket and threatened to kill him.

Another employee put about 1,100 of the tablets in a bag and handed them to the suspect, who fled out the front door and got into a maroon vehicle.

The Saturday robbery, which occurred at 10:38 p.m., involved two men who walked into the gas station wearing masks and holding employees at gunpoint before taking at least $190 from the registers, police said.

Dog shows scheduled

CANFIELD — The Canfield Fairgrounds will go to the dogs — at least for four days.

The Steel Valley Cluster, which is made up of kennels in Beaver, Columbiana, Mahoning and Shenango counties, will have its annual dog shows from July 30 through Aug. 2. Admission is $5 per vehicle, and proceeds will go toward local charities and animal-related programs.

Dogs can be entered in multiple categories including obedience, rally obedience and junior showmanship. The judging for Best in Show will begin at 8 a.m.

The shows are sponsored by Pedigree Dog Foods and will feature more than 100 vendors of dog accessories and novelties.
