Share wedding photos with file-sharing site

Dear Heloise: Another way to quickly and easily get wedding photos from all of your friends is to leave a little notecard on each table with the Web address of a file-sharing site where users can upload photos to an account you have set up. All you need to include on the notecard is the Web address (URL) and a username and password. A lot of brides use creative poems to instruct guests on how to share photos with them.

The bride and groom will get their pictures more quickly, and it is a more practical and environmentally friendly way to get your guests’ wedding photos. Veronika, Houston

Veronika, thanks for the clever photo idea! Disposable cameras also are still a wonderful idea — not everyone uses a digital camera. Heloise

Dear Heloise: I read in the Naples (Fla.) Daily News to put only a phone number on luggage tags, rather than the full address. In this day and age, doing a reverse search by phone number to gain an address can be as simple as 60 seconds of one’s time at a computer. Cate, via e-mail

Dear Heloise: I have a pretty decanter that I had some fresh flowers in. After the flowers were past their prime, I washed out the decanter, only to find that it is stained inside. Help! Vivian R., Philadelphia

Vivian, the answer to your decanter problem is my favorite cleaner — vinegar! Just fill the decanter with full-strength vinegar, and heat it if the vase will not break, covering the stained area. Let it sit overnight and then use a bottle brush to scrub the stains. I love vinegar! You can save a lot of money using vinegar instead of buying expensive cleaning products! Want to know how? Simply send $5 and a long, self-addressed, stamped (61 cents) envelope to: Heloise/Vinegar, P.O. Box 795001, San Antonio, TX 78279-5001, and you will receive my six-page pamphlet filled with vinegar uses, and even some recipes as an added bonus! Did you know that you can keep hard cheese mold-free by wrapping it in a vinegar-soaked paper towel and then putting it in the fridge? Heloise

Dear Heloise: Why can’t companies that make products such as paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent put some sort of handle on them so that they could be carried more easily? It seems it would be easy to do, and it would be a benefit to the consumer. Nancy Orsi, Omaha, Neb.
