Terlesky, Timko win golf events
BOARDMAN — Nine-year-old Brian Terlesky Jr. has won 12 tournaments this summer in three states.
Most recently, Brian, the son of Brian and Christine (Moschella) Terlesky, won the 7-Up Junior tournament in the 12-and-under division at Mill Creek, firing rounds of 67-70 (5 under).
Also this month, Brian won the U.S. Kids Junior at Fairways Golf Course in Canton (9-year-old division) with a 32; the Diamond Back Junior tournament in Canfield (43), and the City of Youngstown Junior tournament at Stambaugh G.C. (33).
Brian also won the Spitale Junior tournament series four times at Skyland Pines in Canton (12-and-under). He won the event on June 11, June 25, July 2 and July 9. He shot 38s on June 25 and July 2, and 39 on July 9.
Brian also competed in the World Youth Team Challenge at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago. Competing in the 10-year-old division he played for Team USA-West, finishing in second place. The event was held on a 5,200-yard course, playing 18 holes per day.
Brian also won the Allied Waste Future Tour championship in Greenville, Ms., shooting 2-under 70, and the Pepsi Little People Tournament in Quincy, Ill., with a 1-under 71 that featured a hole-in-one. He won the latter event by seven shots.
Brian also won the U.S. Kids Golf Tournament at Sable Creek G.C. in Hartville, shooting a 31 to win the 9-year-old division, and the 1st Tee Junior tournament at Clearview Golf Course in Canton, where he teamed up with Zoe Jacobson to shoot 37.
Timko wins PGA event
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Boo Timko fired rounds of 74-74-70 to win the Callaway PGA Junior Series Event held at Purdue University’s 7,038-yard, par 72 Kampen Course.
Timko came from five strokes back in the final round and won on the second playoff hole, beating Paul Sansom from Russellville, Ky.
The event consisted of 111 players from 13 states. With the victory Timko qualified to play in the PGA Junior Championship later this month at the TPC of Riverbend in Mainville, Ohio.
