Rondinelli last Class B team in Mack tourney


STRUTHERS — Rondinelli Tuxedo’s Zack Stein had a three-run triple to lead his team past Springfield Armoloy, 11-0, in an elimination game at the 47th Connie Mack state baseball tournament on Saturday.

Jaymee Shepard, Drew Fitzpatrick, and Jason Bagoly had two hits each to back up the five-hit shutout pitching of Rondinelli’s Adam Shrodek, who had one strikeout.

Rondinelli is the last Class B League team remaining in the tournament being played at Cene Park.

Stark County Terriers 3, Rondinelli Tuxedo 2

T.J. Sutton’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh drove home the winning run for the Terriers.

Jesse Coblentz had two hits while Brian Dougherty went six innings on the mound with six strikeouts. Sam McWhorter picked up the win in relief.

Rondinelli tied the contest with two runs in the top of the seventh on a fielders choice off the bat of Phil Lipari and a sacrifice fly by Drew Fitzpatrick. Jaymee Shepard and Lipari had two hits each for Rondinelli while Craig Eshelman went the distance and suffered the loss. He allowed just one earned run and struck out two.

Ohio Orioles 7, Wharmby Sports 2

The Orioles scored six times in the first three innings. Vince Marguard had a triple and a single while Mike Fabi and Brandan Warner drove home two runs each for the winners.

Ryan Morris allowed two runs (one earned) in going the distance for the win.

Evan Anzio had a single and a double for Wharmby Sports. John Price tossed 42‚Ñ3 innings of one hit relief allowing only one unearned run.

J&A Baseball 6, OTN Performance 1

OTN managed just five hits as they were eliminated by J&A Baseball.

Kevin Morissette had a triple and a double, while Mitchell Herringshaw, Josh West, and Colin Houdek had two hits each for J&A.

Frank Havrlock tossed a complete game with three strikeouts for the win.

Gary Revale had two hits for OTN, while Jay Rowland had a double and RBI.

Ohio Hurricanes 3, Astro Falcons 1

The Ohio Hurricanes managed just two hits in the win.

lay Burke went the first five innings for the win with Eric Simon going the final two innings for the save.

Kyle Allen had three hits and Jared Turocy added two for the Astro Falcons while Trent Vallinger tossed a complete game with five strikeouts in taking the loss.

Lake Erie Bulldogs 8, Wharmby Sports 0

Lake Erie’s Kurt Gamby allowed just a two-out single to Jason Burkes in the sixth inning in a game played Friday night.

Gamby had seven strikeouts and did not walk a man and had a perfect game for five innings before hitting Josh Foster to start the sixth.

Jesse Franklin and Kurt Gamby had two hits each for the winners.

Matt Tyson went the first five innings and suffered the loss, allowing three runs while striking out a pair.
