Library seminars offer business information

YOUNGSTOWN — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has scheduled three seminars to provide business information.

A small-business seminar will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 27 at the Austintown branch. Members of SCORE will cover business start-up topics, including business and marketing plans, finances and technology.

Also, a librarian from the main library’s information services department will discuss the library’s services for new and growing businesses.

A tour of the business and investment center at the main library in Youngstown will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Also at the main library, a program on the library’s business databases will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24.

Construction begins on new resort for dogs

WEATHERSFIELD — Construction has started on Broadview Acres Country Canine Resort, 419 Salt Springs Road.

The day-care and boarding facility for dogs is slated to open in the fall on 45 acres. The owner, Carrie DeCesare, said it will feature radiant floor heat, air conditioning, large outdoor runs and a half-acre playground with splash pool.

Relaxing music will be played throughout the building, and a special room designed for dogs 15 pounds and under will offer indoor grass for dogs that like to stay indoors.

Business owner focuses on decorative painting

POLAND — Mike Baluck has started Mike’s Decorative Effects and Painting Co.

Baluck has provided interior and exterior painting services in the past but recently has focused his efforts on decorative painting, which is the art of blending materials to achieve a desired effect.

Maynstream Media opens for brand development

BOARDMAN —DeMayne Earvin has opened Maynstream Media at 54 Boardman-Canfield Road and will focus on developing brand consistency for clients.

The design firm specializes in marketing and advertising design for print and the Web. Among its offerings are business cards, brochures and Web site development. It also offers commercial printing.

Eris Medical Technologies sells software to HMHP

YOUNGSTOWN — Eris Medical Technologies, which recently became a tenant of the Youngstown Business Incubator, has sold a software product that manages patient charges to Humility of Mary Health Partners.

The software will be used at HMHP’s three local hospitals, the incubator said. HMHP has been testing the product for Eris for the past year.

Farris Marketing works on Industry Needs You

BOARDMAN — Farris Marketing has undertaken several projects on behalf of Industry Needs You, an initiative created by the Lawrence/Mercer County Industry Partnership to attract young people to manufacturing careers.

The Boardman-based marketing firm is working on testimonial videos, a promotional poster and copy for a Web site.
