Hanshaw joins McKinley trustee board

NILES — William Hanshaw of Howland has been appointed to the board of trustees for the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Association in Niles.

The appointment was announced by board President Glenn Griffiths.

The trustees have the responsibility of maintaining the McKinley Memorial as a living tribute to President William McKinley.

Hanshaw is an attorney and has been executive vice president of the Howland Farmers Trust Company (formerly Butler Wick Trust Company) office since June 2000. Before that, he was head of the Second National Bank Trust Department for more than 12 years. He has 30 years of tax, probate and trust administration experience.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University in 1975. He then went on to receive his law degree from the University of Akron in 1978.

He is a past board member of the Salvation Army, Shepherd of the Valley Foundation, Humility of Mary Health Partners and past chairman of the board of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Hanshaw is a member of the Ohio and Trumbull County Bar associations.

He lives in Howland with his wife, Karen, and has three daughters.
