Dishes feature tattoo design

Now your dinnerware can wear a tat.

Jessica Rust Designs recently introduced a Tattoo Collection of plates, mugs, dessert plates, platters and more, which can be personalized with wording just like skin art. The dishes’ two designs were created by Minneapolis tattoo artist Mike Tofano.

The tableware can be ordered at www.rustdesigns.com.

Available initially are sets of four mugs for $72, four dessert plates for $98 or four of each for $160.

What’s in a name

Interior designers and decorators both can create aesthetically pleasing rooms, however, the terms aren’t synonymous.

In case you’re among the confused, here’s clarification: Decorators deal mostly with surface decor: paint, fabric, furnishings, lighting and such, (think fashion). Designers take into account human interaction or behavior, focusing on the functionality, efficiency, and safety of spaces, according to interiordesignschoolreview.com.

Some states require a license.

Bedroom feng shui

What if harmful chi (energy), caused by, among other things, decor that disrupts harmony and blocks a positive flow, is the culprit behind your bedroom woes?

For an antidote, see “Lillian Too’s Feng Shui Workbook” (Cico Books; $19.95).

Techniques include creating a sacred space for beneficial chi and removing bedroom taboos, which include bed headboards placed against a window and having a TV or mirror facing a bed.

Purification rituals (e.g., cleansing with pine and salt) are listed.

A new kind of pillow

Going to bed looking like Sleeping Beauty and waking up like the Beast is not good.

Natura’s Aloe Vera Dream Mate Pillow is soft and plush and has an aloe-encapsulated cover that is quilted with wool.

The aloe softens the skin, while the wool, with its anti- microbial properties, draws moisture away. Its granulated latex core feels like down but springs back, and doesn’t pack down or wrinkle up.

Cost starts at $77.50.
