Attempted robbery at automotive store

Staff Report

YOUNGSTOWN — An employee at a Glenwood Avenue automotive store told police that a gunman came into the business demanding money.

The employee of Southside Automotive Service said he was seated behind the counter around 1 p.m. Friday when a man wearing a hockey mask and carrying a gun walked in.

The gunman demanded money, and when the employee said he didn’t have any, the gunman pulled the trigger. The victim said he heard a click, but the gun didn’t fire.

The gunman looked at the gun and ran out of the store, a police report said.
