ABWA Charter Chapter recognizes member as its Woman of the Year

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association honored Mary Lou Lewis of Boardman as its 2009 Woman of the Year during a banquet at Caff Capri in Boardman.

Nominated by ABWA member Cathy Pokrivnak, Lewis was recognized for her exceptional dedication and commitment to ABWA.

Lewis became a member of the chapter in 1972 and has been a loyal, active and productive member ever since. She has served on the chapter board, in various posts and on numerous committees. She is retired after being employed 30 years by Trinity United Methodist Church.

Lewis is the mother of four children. Her family includes Karen and Tom Egan of South Carolina, Craig and Mary Gaye Lewis of Texas, Kent and Karen Lewis of Connecticut, and Kim and Bob Novak of Poland. Her family attended the banquet, as did neighbors John, Pam and Megan Shargo.

ABWA has several chapters in the Tri-County area and has donated more than $500,000 collectively in college scholarship funds for local students since 1954.
