BOARDMAN — A restaurant near U.S. Route 224 and Tippecanoe Road will get a new look and a new sign later this summer.

Rockne’s, a restaurant known for its giant hamburger, will become the Stonebridge Grille & Tavern at the end of August, said Bryan Ridder, attorney for the restaurant’s owner Robert Stevens.

Ridder said the change will give the restaurant flexibility to change its venue and menu, which it could not do as a Rockne’s franchise.

The updated menu will include more “upscale” selections, and the restaurant will close for two weeks at the end of August to complete renovations, Ridder said.

“There’s going to be some significant changes, though. Significant amount of interior renovations. They’re going to make it more comfortable, more upscale,” Ridder said.

Though the menu will be more “diverse” and “upscale,” the restaurant hopes to keep prices comparable to the levels they have as a Rockne’s franchise, Ridder said.

Stevens, who Ridder said was out of town, was not available to comment.

Calls to the Rockne’s franchise headquarters were not returned.
