County plans sales tax levy hearing Monday
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at 10 a.m. Monday in their county courthouse basement hearing room, 120 Market St., concerning renewal of the county’s half percent sales tax.
The tax, which expires at the end of 2010, raises about $14 million annually for the county’s general fund. To put the measure before the voters on Nov. 3, the commissioners would have to approve a resolution to do so by Aug. 20. The renewal must pass Nov. 3 or next May to ensure uninterrupted collection of the tax.
