Mahoning County commissioners issue treatment plant contracts


YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Commissioners have unanimously awarded $1,043,677 worth of contracts for installation of a grit removal and screening system at the sanitary engineer’s Meander Wastewater Treatment Plant on state Route 46 in Weathersfield to four local companies.

On Thursday, they awarded the $703,378 general contract to A.P. O’Horo Co. of Liberty; the $110,000 heating, ventilating and air conditioning contract to York-Mahoning Mechanical Contractors Inc. of Youngstown; the $5,299 plumbing contract to Alcon Mechanical Inc. of McDonald; and the $225,000 electrical contract to Penn-Ohio Electrical Co. of Brookfield.

The 12-14 month project, involves installation of equipment to remove sand, grit and debris from wastewater as it enters the treatment plant.
