Golf Classic to benefit Golden String

YOUNGSTOWN — The Lake Club (formerly Fonderlac Country Club) in New Springfield will be the setting on July 27 for the Joe Gallagher Golf Classic, a benefit for Golden String Inc., 16 S. Phelps St.

Named in honor of the oldest client of Golden String, the event will feature a four-person scramble, and play will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The cost is $125 per golfer or $500 per foursome and includes green fees, a cart, breakfast, lunch and dinner, beverages, and event and skill prizes. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

Monetary and product donations are being accepted for an auction, golfer goodie bags and the event and skill prizes.

Farmer’s National Bank is the corporate sponsor for the event, and proceeds will go directly to Golden String. The funds will be used for renovations and additions at Farmer Casey’s Ranch, where the Purple Cat day habilitative program is now located and where high school students with disabilities attend a fishing camp.
