Decyfer Down to perform

WARREN — Decyfer Down will perform at 7 tonight at Warren Community Amphitheatre, 303 Mahoning Ave. Also featured in the show presented by Reignstorm Productions will be regional act “State of Emergency.” Tickets are $12.50 and may be purchased at iTickets.com. Attention film buffs

POLAND — Yellow Creak Theatre in Poland Village will feature the film that reignited Joan Crawford’s career, “Mildred Pierce.” She won an Academy Award as best actress giving one of her most convincing performances in this story of a determined woman’s rise from waitress to restaurateur. The film conveys director Michael Curtiz’s love of the American night world and captures the ambiance of 1940s Southern California.

Show time is at 9 p.m. Friday; the film will be screened on the Route 224 bridge wall behind and adjacent to Poland Library. Admission is free and open to the public. Those attending should take lawn chairs. Parking is available at Poland Library.

“The Nutty Professor” and Classic Car Night are planned July 24. The Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club also will have cars on display. Food and live entertainment will precede the 1963 film. Visit www.yellowcreektheatre.com for the summer film schedule.

Laugh it up at improv

LISBON — An evening of family-friendly improv, “Spot On,” is planned from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Stage Left Players, Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way. Dan Parsons and his group of improvisers will present crazy characters and surprising scenarios. There is a $5 admission fee.

Bluegrass Music Festival

NEWTON FALLS — General Assembly Church of God, 2021 E. River Road, will host its second annual Bluegrass Music Festival from 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 on church grounds. Bands scheduled are Vertical Limit, Matheson Family Pride, Limited Edition and The Singing Weavers. Charlie Lape. well-known local bluegrass personality, will emcee. Food and refreshments will be available.

Proceeds will benefit the church’s youth group program. Though some funds are used for the group, much of the money raised last year helped the community.

Admission will be a donation; $5 is suggested for adults, youths are free. Limited picnic-table seating will be available; bring lawn chairs or blankets. For more information, call Joe Click at (330) 979-4882.

Movie under stars

HUBBARD — “Chronicles of Narnia” will be screened Wednesday at Julia’s Bed and Breakfast, 6219 W. Liberty St., where activities begin at 6 p.m. with karaoke, games and prizes. Those attending should bring blankets and lawn chairs. There will be concessions.
