Victorian Weekend events


MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County Historical Society, 119 S. Pitt St., has scheduled a series of special events that will take place during Victorian Weekend, Friday through Sunday.

On Friday the Western Pennsylvania Civil War Reenactors Society will set up their encampment on the grounds at MCHS, there will be a concert by the Mercer Community Band, and the museum will be open until 7 p.m.

Saturday activities will include a rededication of the Tommy McClain Print Shop at 1 p.m., an art show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the social room of the Helen Black Miller Chapel, and a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anderson Building. There will be special displays at the museum and a continuous showing of a 1939 movie featuring Mercer businesses and individuals.

An Underground Railroad walking tour will be offered on Saturday and Sunday. Tours will begin at 3 p.m. on both days and last two hours. Comfortable shoes are advised. For more information call (724) 662-3490.
