New Lions club receives charter, installs officers

Special to The Vindicator CELEBRATION: A charter for the newly organized Streetsboro Lions Club is presented by District 13-D Governor Harold Ullman to Ed Lupton, president of the chartered club, as they are joined by Past District Governor Jerry Smith.

STREETSBORO — A highlight of a banquet on June 27 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall was the presentation of a charter to Streetsboro Lions Club, a new District 13-D Lions Club.

District 13-D Governor Harold Ullman had the honor of presenting the charter to Ed Lupton, president of the new club.

Master of ceremonies for the evening was Bob Bard of Crestwood Lions Club, which was the sponsoring club, and the keynote speaker was Past District Governor Jerry Smith of Wauseon.

Charter members and officers of the Streetsboro club were inducted during a ceremony officiated by Ullman. They are: Lupton, president; Steve Friedman, secretary; Earl Rutherford Sr., treasurer; Martin Fleming, membership director; and Cindy Friedman, tail twister.

Officially welcomed as members were Frank Barrett, Eugene Davis, Barbara Fleming, Janice Grubaugh, Jim Grubaugh, Maureen Hannan, Tom Hannan, Beverly Lupton, Robert Martin, Brett McClafferty, Jim Miner, Amelia Porter, Keith Porter, Christopher Stone, Jamison Stone, Mary Stone and Aaron Winters.

Bob Bard and Patti Gauch will continue to serve as guiding Lions for the new club.

District 13-D is comprised of approximately 60 clubs in Portage, Stark, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.
