CAMPBELL — The driver of a car that was in an accident involving a fatality Saturday is being charged, Campbell police said.

Scott Johnson, 37, of Ascot Court, Youngstown, is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, driving under suspension and not controlling his vehicle, police said.

Robert L. Killing Jr., 52, of Henn Hyde Road, Howland, was killed. He was a passenger in the front seat of Johnson’s car.

Craig J. Davis, 24, of North Salem Warren Road, North Jackson, was injured. He was a passenger in the rear seat of Johnson’s car.

Davis and Johnson were in St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown on Monday afternoon. The hospital would not release any information on their conditions.

Police said further charges against Johnson are possible pending the outcome of a detective’s investigation and a toxicology report from the hospital.

Johnson refused a voluntary drug-and-alcohol test at the hospital after the accident, police said.

The accident happened on Robinson Road around 12:30 p.m. Two witnesses told police that Johnson’s car was speeding west on Robinson and struck a vehicle that was stopped to turn at Robinson and 12th streets.

The driver of that car, Lillie J. Adams, 57, of Youngstown was not hurt, police said.

Johnson continued on Robinson past the intersection, losing control on a curve while going down a hill.

The car went off the road and hit the side wall of the Ultimate Club at 56 Robinson Road.
