Babe Ruth stars unbeaten in state tourney


The Youngstown Babe Ruth 13-year-old all-stars defeated Newark, 15-7, on Sunday, to remain unbeaten in the state tournament.

Youngstown (2-0) advanced to the winners bracket finals today.

Nick Maillis was the winning pitcher for Youngstown.

The hitting leaders were Edmond Pilolli, with a triple and two singles, and two RBIs, and Phil Di Ianni, two singles, Jake Pishotti and Drew Beck, all with two singles. Beck also had two RBIs.

Also, Tyler Spain hit a triple and had two RBIs, and Zach Kuchmaner also drove in a pair of runs.

Babe Ruth 13-15s

Rondinelli Tuxedo swept Astro Falcons to win the league championship, winning by scores of 9-4 and 12-7.

In the first game, Corey Hickman, Kyle Hickman, Cody Pitzo, Michael Raschilla and Robert Vargo all had doubles. Corey Hickman, Pitzo and Kyle Hickman all hit doubles in the second game for Rondinelli, which finished with a 26-4 record.
