U.S. Rep. Brown leads Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Hunger, Nutrition, and Family Farms.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat from Avon, is the new chairman of the U.S. Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Hunger, Nutrition, and Family Farms.
The subcommittee has jurisdiction over legislation relating to domestic food assistance, safe and sustainable agriculture, and childhood nutrition programs. The subcommittee also has oversight of commodity futures, options and derivatives.
The Senate Subcommittee on Hunger, Nutrition, and Family Farms oversees the improvement of school and childhood nutrition programs, domestic and international food assistance, hunger prevention, and local health food initiatives.
“This subcommittee will determine how we can continue to work with our nation’s farmers to address nutrition and hunger issues,” Brown said today after his appointment. “As chair of the committee, I look forward to addressing how agriculture can be part of the solution to some of our nation’s important challenges.”
