Three postal branches might be on the chopping block
YOUNGSTOWN — Looking to save money, the U.S. Postal Service is considering closing more than 3,000 stations and branches, including three in Youngstown.
Those potentially on the chopping block are: 733 N. Garland St. on the city’s East Side, 104 W. Hylda Ave. on the South Side, and 2030 Mahoning Ave. on the West Side.
The three are among the least frequented post offices in the Mahoning Valley, said Victor Dubina, a postal service spokesman.
Just because the three are on the list doesn’t mean they will be closed, he said.
That decision would be made by postal officials in Northeast Ohio and finalized by national postal officials, Dubina said.
