ANAHEIM, Calif. — John Lackey pitched seven solid innings and the Los Angeles Angels knocked around CC Sabathia to complete a sweep of the New York Yankees. Lackey (4-4) quickly worked through the Yankees lineup, allowing two runs on six hits. The Angels’ ace struck out six in one of his most efficient starts since missing the first six with a forearm strain.

SEATTLE — Pinch-hitter Chris Shelton and Rob Johnson hit consecutive RBI singles with two out in the seventh inning to lead Seattle. All-Star Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and drove in a run for the Mariners, raising his batting average to .362 and extending his hitting streak to 11 games.
Red Sox 6, Royals 0
BOSTON — Josh Beckett capped a brilliant first half of the season with a three-hitter, joining teammate Tim Wakefield as the only 11-game winners in the AL. Beckett (11-3) retired the first nine batters, five on strikeouts, and picked up his 100th career victory.
Orioles 4, Blue Jays 2
BALTIMORE — Brad Bergesen took a shutout into the seventh inning and Brian Roberts had two RBIs and Baltimore ended a miserable road trip for the Blue Jays. Oscar Salazar homered and Roberts also scored a run for the Orioles. Twins 13, White Sox 7
MINNEAPOLIS — Carlos Gomez drove in a career-high five runs and Minnesota had an unusually productive game against White Sox ace Mark Buehrle (9-3), who gave up eight runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings. Gomez, Brendan Harris and Denard Span homered against Buehrle, who has beaten Minnesota more times than any other opponent.
Athletics 7, Rays 3
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Orlando Cabrera hit a tiebreaking RBI single in Oakland’s four-run seventh. Kurt Suzuki and pinch-hitter Jack Cust each singled in a run and Mark Ellis drove in Landon Powell with a groundout to set up Cabrera’s hit off Chad Bradford that made it 4-3.

Dodgers 7, Brewers 4
MILWAUKEE — All-Star Orlando Hudson homered twice, Clayton Kershaw won his fifth consecutive road start and the Los Angeles Dodgers capped the best first half in the majors. Manny Ramirez went 3 for 3 and scored twice to help the Dodgers finish a 6-3 road trip for their best start in 32 years at 56-32.

DENVER — All-Star Brad Hawpe hit a game-ending RBI double and Colorado rallied from four runs down in the last three innings.
Cubs 7, Cardinals 3, first game
CHICAGO — Carlos Zambrano pitched six solid innings and hit his third homer of the season. Micah Hoffpauir hit a three-run homer for the Cubs, who closed within 2 1/2 games of the NL Central-leading Cardinals. Zambrano (5-4) allowed three runs and five hits. Albert Pujols was 1 for 4 with two RBIs for the Cardinals, but also committed a two-run error in the seventh inning.

CHICAGO — Ryan Ludwick hit a pair of two-run homers, Adam Wainwright pitched eight strong innings and the St. Louis Cardinals salvaged a split. Wainwright improved to 3-0 against the Cubs this season and St. Louis leads the NL-Central by 2 1/2 games heading into the All-Star break.
Diamondbacks 8, Marlins 1
PHOENIX — All-Star Josh Johnson blanked Arizona through six innings and Cody Ross drove in three runs with a pair of doubles for Florida.
Mets 9, Reds 7
NEW YORK — Gary Sheffield had three RBIs and Daniel Murphy drove in two runs to spark the Mets’ best offensive game in weeks.
Astros 4, Nationals 0
HOUSTON — Kaz Matsui hit a three-run homer and Brian Moehler won for the fourth time in five decisions. Moehler (6-5) allowed seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Padres 10, Giants 4
SAN FRANCISCO — Kevin Kouzmanoff and Eliezer Alfonzo hit three-run homers, Will Venable also homered and set a career-high with four hits, and San Diego snapped a season-high seven-game losing streak.
