Man charged with felonious assault
Staff Report
YOUNGSTOWN — Police found a group of people gathered around a woman of the 500 block of West Ravenwood, no age given, in a nearby driveway at about 6:21 p.m. Saturday. Her hands were covered in blood.
The police report recounted that she told officers that she didn’t want to press charges against her attacker because, “He was only trying to keep me from hooking.”
A witness told police that the woman was walking on the street when a man identified as Mateen Abdullah, 47, walked up behind her, pulled out a box-cutter-type instrument and cut her on the neck and pushed her to the ground. Abdullah fled northbound on Ravenwood, and police spotted him in the area of Hudson and Idora streets, where he was apprehended. Abdullah and the victim had been living together for a short time.
He was charged with felonious assault.
