“Teddy: In His Own Words” (9 p.m., HBO): HBO kicks off a summer series of provocative documentary films with this insightful profile of U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy. Directed by three-time Emmy-winner Peter Kunhardt, “Teddy” tells the story of Camelot’s last male survivor, beginning with his privileged childhood and culminating with his stirring speech at last year’s Democratic National Convention. Sandwiched in between are the highlights of a distinguished 46-year Senate career and all the triumphs and tragedies along the way.
“Raising the Bar” (10 p.m., TNT): In a new episode of “Raising the Bar,” Jerry defends a man arrested for running over his crooked lawyer with a car. Some juries might consider that heroic.
