YOUNGSTOWN — Police say the public responded to a request for information about the suspected gunman in a South Side shooting.

Now, 20-year-old Keith Leone Wade, of Hilton Avenue, is in police custody. Wade, arrested about 1 p.m. Friday, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives, asked for the public’s help in the apprehension, saying he believed Wade to be armed and dangerous.

“We requested help, and the public did respond to that request. We developed some information along the way on where he was,” said Centorame. “He is being questioned now but already charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.”

Police arrested Wade at an address in the 1100 block of Salt Springs Road. He is accused of shooting a 62-year-old man multiple times.

Already jailed in this case is Lorenzo Hilton Jr., 19, of East Judson Avenue, who was arrested Wednesday on charges of felonious assault, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

Officers were sent to a home in the 300 block of Ravenwood just after noon Tuesday. Officers were immediately approached by a young boy who said his father had been shot.

Officers found Joseph McClendon shot several times. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Witnesses inside the house told the officers that two men, one carrying a handgun and the other an assault rifle, came into the home. Witnesses said the man carrying the rifle shot the resident, and the other man held a gun on the other occupants of the home.
