Lions, Lioness clubs seat new officers at banquet

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown Lions and Lioness clubs installed officers for the coming season and the 32nd anniversary of the Lions Club charter was celebrated during a banquet on June 22 at Lucianno’s Cafe and Banquet Center. Bill Sywy presided.
Inducted by the Lions were: Jack Kochansky, president; Harold Wilson, first vice president; Larry Jensen, second vice president and Lioness liaison; and Bob Melcher, third vice president; Sywy, secretary and immediate past president; Amy Stacy, treasurer; Joe Valasek, tail twister; Don Hoelzel, Lion tamer; Bob Whited, membership director and public relations chairman; Glenn Ringer and Jack Aey, two-year directors; and Jim Donnan and Fred Viehe, one-year directors.
Seated as officers by the Lioness club were: Lori Stone, president; Lou Skerkavich, vice president; Teresa McCallen, secretary; and Jane Grace, treasurer.
David Gauch of Crestwood Lions Club, second vice district governor, was installing officer and speaker for the event. He also inducted two new members of the Lioness Club, Patty Raver, who was sponsored by Stone, and Elsie Holecko, sponsored by Skerkavich.
Special honor
The Melvin Jones Fellowship was presented to Sywy in recognition of his dedicated humanitarian service to the Lions.
Making the presentation was Bob Booher of Canal Fulton Lions Club, the international foundation district chairman and past district governor.
Special guests included the president of Lordstown Lions Club, Bob Johnston, and his wife, Pat; and zone chairman Rick Albrecht and his wife, Becky.
