2-year-old shooting victim mourned at service in Canton
CANTON (AP) — A minister says the funeral turnout for a 2-year-old shooting victim shows the girl touched a lot of lives during her short life.
More than 100 people mourned Harmoney Sankey at a church in Canton on Thursday. Police say the child was killed July 2 by two men who entered her family’s home and demanded money. Her grandfather was wounded.
The Rev. Emmett Lee said during the service that it was a time for the many who loved Harmoney to thank God for the time with her.
Another speaker, the Rev. Walter Moss, said the violence showed hearts need to change.
Police have charged two suspects in the girl’s death.
Most mourners abided by the family’s wishes that they not wear black to the funeral.
