Man jailed 14 years in divorce dispute to be freed

MEDIA, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man jailed for 14 years in a divorce dispute is set to be released from prison.

H. Beatty Chadwick has been jailed in suburban Philadelphia since 1995 for contempt of court stemming from the contentious split.

Chadwick is accused of hiding $2.5 million from his ex-wife and has been jailed for not disclosing its whereabouts. Chadwick maintains he lost the money in bad investments.

Judge Joseph Cronin of Delaware County Common Pleas Court determined today the continued incarceration of Chadwick would not result in complying with the order.

Chadwick’s lawyer, Mike Malloy, said his client was to be released from the prison in Delaware County today.
