4th man indicted in shooting that killed Youngstown man

STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — A fourth man has been indicted in the shooting death of a 24-year-old city man early this year.

A Mahoning County grand jury handed up the indictment Thursday against Brandon T. Clinkscale, 24, of Selma Avenue, on charges of murder, felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation.

There is also a firearm specification in the indictment, meaning Clinkscale could face additional jail time if convicted.

Police have charged Clinkscale and several others with the Feb. 21 shooting of 24-year-old Melkanoe L. Bowman.

According to reports, Bowman was shot in the head in the 900 block of Delaware Avenue on the city’s North Side in what police said was a feud. Witnesses told police dozens of shots were fired outside the home.

A bullet from the shooting also hit a 6-year-old boy across the street in his left foot as he slept, resulting in the felonious-assault charge.

Keilan A. Clinkscale, 20, of Coronado Avenue, and Ryan J. McGee, 22, of Superior Street, also have been charged in the shooting. They are both awaiting court dates.

The grand jury also indicted Charles C. Richardson, 24, of Alameda Avenue, on charges of murder, discharging a firearm into a home and felonious assault in the homicide after a direct presentment to the grand jury in June. Police say he has been in hiding since the indictment.
