Youngstown police 4th Youth Police Academy begins next week

YOUNGSTOWN — The city police department is having registration for its fourth annual Youth Police Academy.

The academy will run for five weeks beginning Tuesday. Graduation ceremonies will be Aug. 15. Classes for children 8 through 11 will be on Tuesdays; classes for those 12 through 14 will be on Wednesdays; and classes for those 15 through 17 will be on Thursdays.

All classes will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The academy will accept the first 40 students who pass the application process.

Applications can be picked up in the police chief’s office at 116 W. Boardman St., downtown, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
