Canfield won’t hire a high school principal soon
CANFIELD — Canfield High School will take a recess from having a principal for a while.
The school board unanimously supported a recommendation by Superintendent Dante Zambrini to leave the position vacant for the foreseeable future. The school has been without a principal after Dr. Abby Barone retired last month. She held the position for 11 years.
“It’s not saying the position is not needed; it’s simply saying that at this time the money is more necessary for students and teachers,” Zambrini said. “There is no doubt that Dr. Barone will be missed because of her knowledge and experience, but this issue is not about that.”
The school board met Wednesday afternoon to discuss the matter. The decision was made in part because the district has had a reduction of more than $300,000 in revenue over the past year.
