1080 wins Game 1 in B League title series

STRUTHERS — 1080 Media pounded out 15 hits to defeat Rondinelli Tuxedo 11-0 in Game 1 of the Class B League championship series at Cene Park on Wednesday.

Game 2 of the best-of-5 series is today at 7 p.m.

Justin Vrabel and Joe Aulizia had three hits each, while Brad Byers, Dan Popio, and Chris Zadroski had two each for 1080, who scored in all four innings. Aulizia had three RBIs and Vrabel two.

Paul Indrihovic allowed just a second inning single to Ed Reese in the complete game victory with three strikeouts.

A five-run second inning broke the game open. Vrabel and Zadroski singled to start the frame and Byers then beat out a bunt to load the bases. Aulizia singled home two runs, then Evan Campbell scored two more with a triple. The last run scored on a wild pitch.

STRUTHERS — Astro Falcons defeated Roth Brothers, 6-2, to tie their best-of-5 championship series at one game each.

Alex Strittmatter picked up the win for Astro, going the distance, allowing two earned runs on eight hits while striking out five.

Gerrad Rohan led the attack with two hits and two RBIs for Astro. Ryan Gallagher and Tim Audia each added a double.

Sutton Whiting scored twice for Astro.

Ricky Jones led the attack for Roth with two hits.

Game 3 is today at 7 p.m.

Youngstown AA

YOUNGSTOWN — Alex Oles tossed a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts and two walks to lead Youngstown Metros over Andover, 3-1.

Matt Pitzulo and Joe Iacobucci each singled and scored.

For Andover, Andy Saska tossed a five-hitter in a losing effort. James Knight singled and scored.

WARREN — The Knights defeated the New Hamburg Hounds 10-0 on Sunday at MacGregor Field, as Matt DiMuzio pitched a five-inning no-hitter.

Mike Johnson went 3-for-4 and Rick DiMuzio was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Pat Elias had a home run and two doubles, driving in five runs.

Kyle Moore had five hits including a double and had four RBIs for Trumbull.
