One-women performance to follow lawn luncheon

NILES — Niles Historical Society will sponsor its 9th annual Luncheon on the Lawn at noon July 25 on the grounds of the Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St.

Guests are invited to arrive early and to take the opportunity to stroll through the flower gardens and arboretum at the museum.

After the luncheon, Carol Weakland will present a one-woman production of the literary classic, “Jane Eyre.”

The performance is based on Charlotte Bronte’s romantic novel that was published in 1847 in London.

Weakland will bring to life the story of Eyre, a young woman who accepts a job as governess at Thornfield Hall and falls in love with her employer, a mysterious man with a terrible secret.

The cost for the event is $20, and seating is limited. Reservations must be received by noon July 22, and can be made by calling (330) 544-2143 or by sending a check with your name, address and phone number to Niles Historical Society, P.O. Box 368, Niles, OH 44446.
